What We Believe

Our Core Values:

We, the people of the Mt. Gretna United Methodist Church, believe in the statements
within the Apostle’s Creed, wherefore, we are called to live out our lives in accordance
with that faith by following Christ into ministry and mission to our community and
beyond our community to the world. We believe that this ministry and mission to be ‘well
expressed through the discipline of the United Methodist Church, and strive to adhere to
its polity. We believe we are called to the corporate worship of God, fellowship with one
another, healthy lifestyles, and acts of compassion as we live out Jesus’ commandment to
love God, our neighbors, and ourselves. We believe that our acts of compassion are
comprised of practical assistance to the needs of others, kindness, healing, forgiveness,
reconciliation, and leading of others to God all of which were demonstrated by our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ, and witnessed to through the Holy Scriptures. We believe in an
“open hearts, open minds, open doors” policy which is inclusive to all who enter our
church fellowship.

Our church’s vision/mission statement is:

The Mission of the Mount Gretna United Methodist Church is:
• To know Christ and make him known:
• To help people become~and grow as~followers of Christ;
• To relieve suffering, in our community and beyond thorough our members’
ministries.

The Annual Conference’s vision and mission:
